During the Second World War
Between 1941 and 1945 the Greater East Asia War, or the Second World War, took place. At the beginning of the war the school was still teaching, but as the war spread and air raids reached Chiang Mai, the authorities ordered the school closed and used the premises as a Thai military hospital to help those wounded in the war. The school was converted into a temporary hospital for one year and six months. When the Second World War ended the school reopened. Students who had been evacuated returned to study and many new students applied, so that the existing classrooms were not enough; various rooms were converted into classrooms to teach more than 500 students.
Expansion and accreditation
In 1946 the Ministry of Education accredited the school as equivalent to a government school, and between 1946 and 1951 the school's reputation spread throughout the north. Parents sent more of their children to study, so the school improved and extended its buildings.
From 1952 to 1961 the school had about 13 rai of rice fields, but a plot belonging to the Royal Forest Department separated the school grounds from the fields, making expansion impossible. The school therefore negotiated to exchange its fields for the Forest Department's land. The Ministry of Education saw the need for expansion for the benefit of education and supported the exchange, which took three years of procedure until the Ministry of Finance approved it. The school then had a total area of 33 rai, 1 ngan and 84 square wah, and a new building linking the school building with the Sisters' residence was built in mid-1956 and completed in 1957.

Development of the school
In 1980 the school built one more Sisters' residence and converted the Sisters' quarters and the old chapel into primary classrooms and a secondary library, and built a residence for one ethnic group to help ethnic minority young people gain an education and take what they learned back to develop their remote communities, with funding from abroad. In 1981 the school sold 4 rai of land to the YWCA of Thailand, leaving an area of 29 rai, 1 ngan and 84 square wah.
